How we are planning for economic development
The spatial strategy sets out the provision for 270 hectares of new employment. This is focused at extending existing Enterprise Zones and key employment areas, as well as providing new sites within or near strategic urban expansion areas and new settlements.

Why this approach has been chosen
This strategy helps to reduce the need to travel long distances and encourages the development of self-sustaining new communities, makes better use of existing infrastructure, and best supports existing and future local facilities such as shops and services. It also allows development to be properly planned and coordinated.
