Site Allocations

Where development will take place

Site allocations identify specific areas where development is expected to happen. Allocations have been made for housing, employment and gypsy and traveller provision. These sites have been carefully assessed to ensure they are suitable, available and deliverable.

The Plan includes a range of allocations, from existing brownfield developments to smaller sites spread across towns and villages. The largest sites, known as New and Expanded Settlements (NESS), will deliver significant numbers of homes along with new infrastructure and community facilities.

The Plan also allocates employment sites to meet future economic growth needs, ranging from town centre business space to strategic employment locations, including the allocation of a further 65ha of employment land at Westcott Venture Park.

Why site allocations are important

Allocating sites provides clarity for residents, developers and infrastructure providers. It helps ensure that development is planned properly, that infrastructure can be delivered at the right time, and that the overall strategy of the Plan is achievable.
